NYCHU Steering Committee Meeting

The NYC Homeless Union is a coalition of New Yorkers committed to ending the homeless crisis that is currently gripping the city. Homelessness is at its highest numbers since the Great Depression. In 2017, there were over 60,000 individuals and families in shelters, and that number did not reflect people who were street homeless, living in overcrowded three-quarter homes or other halfway homes and people doubled up with friends and family.

The group has been meeting for the past two years, gaining traction and building power among New York City's homeless population, as well as advocates of the homeless and formerly homeless tenants. We have grown considerably in size since the its inception, and it is now time to move to action.

If you want to be a part of planning next steps for NYCHU, join us on April 26th at 3:00pm at Partnership for the Homeless's Manhattan site. This will be a smaller, more intimate meeting about NYCHU and what future campaigns should focus on, as well as the planning of deliberate actions to be taken.
