March for Affordable Housing and an End to Homelessness

  • Public Library at Bryant Park 476 5th Avenue New York, NY, 10018 United States (map)

Join the New York City Homeless Union as we march to demand a REAL affordable housing plan from Governor Cuomo.

We have combined forces with Housing Coalition for All, an upstate-down coalition that is fighting for safe, deeply affordable housing for low income and homeless New Yorkers.

Governor Cuomo has been in office for 8 years, and is planning on being there for another four. Under his decision making, we have seen record high numbers of homelessness across the state (approximately 89,000 people), devastating losses in rent stabilized apartments, and a culture where landlords have threatening power over their tenants. Governor Cuomo has repeatedly made empty promises to struggling New Yorkers and it is time that we hold him accountable. He needs to follow through on everything he has promised and give New Yorkers a real low income housing plan and strong tenant protections.

The march will begin on the steps of the Public Library in Bryant Park at 5th Avenue and 42nd Street, and travel down to conclude in front of Governor Cuomo's New York City office at 633 3rd Avenue between 40th and 41st street. There will be speeches, signs, cheers and energy as we demand a housing plan that works for all New Yorkers!
